Staged by Ringerike Municipality, the design challenge called for the ideation of a pilot neighborhood which embraces ethical and environmentally aware development in its broadest sense. The master plan offers a thoughtful development roadmap that is rooted in principles of care for the environment and each other, sharing of available resources and amenities, and self-sustaining life through carefully curated waste loops. Buildings are intended to be powered by renewable energy and constructed from materials with a low energy footprint.
Building complexes of varying sizes and character are designed to include greenhouse orchards and cooperative garden plots, promoting resilient, 0 km food cultivation and a micro-scale economy to provide for fundamental necessities.
