FLORA (Forest Lab for Observational Research and Analysis) is an innovative forest canopy observatory located in Collserola Natural Park, Barcelona, developed by students and researchers from the Master’s in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities (MAEBB) at IAAC.
At IAAC’s Valldaura Labs, the MAEBB programme focuses on the learning and development of ecological projects, parametric design techniques, and the processing of locally sourced materials. The programme follows a design-build approach in which students design and construct a full-scale building as their final project each year.
Marziah Zad provided design guidance to the students in developing and realizing the net’s complex form, and supported the team throughout its fabrication and construction.
